Benjamin Teague (they/them) is a Welsh organist and composer based in Cardiff. A graduate of the Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama, Benjamin is an active musician in and around Cardiff, and has written for various media. Benjamin studied composition with Michael McCartney and Ceri Tippetts, and previously the late Peter Reynolds. As an artist living with mental illness, Benjamin takes a particularly keen interest in the health and wellbeing of composers and artists throughout history. Benjamin's dissertation for the MMus (Hons) programme at the Royal Welsh College, titled Mental Health Perception and Treatment: the Life of Dr Robert Schumann, focussed on the symptoms and presence of mental illness throughout Schumann's life, aiming to present a diagnosis based on all available evidence in letters, biographies, and case studies since Schumann's death in 1856.
