Verse Ottawa

[edit]

Verse Ottawa is a coalition of poetry organizations based in Ottawa, Ontario, Canada. It was founded in 2010 by Ottawa-based poets Rod Pederson, Monty Reid, David O'Meara, rob mclennan, and others, with the goal to host an annual international poetry festival, VerseFest, and lobby the City of Ottawa to revive the Ottawa Poet Laureate Program. The first edition of VerseFest was hosted in 2010 at SAW Gallery. The Poet Laureate program was launched in 2017 and features two poets (one Francophone and one Anglophone) for terms of two years. Verse Ottawa occasionally hosts additional events, including Laureate City.
