Info I added to the Headspace Article:
Headspace’s Affect on the ‘Downloaders’:
Headspace has gotten positive feedback from many people who have downloaded it, according to the Institute for Ethics and Emerging Technologies. Headspace offers a ten-day trial, which has allowed more users to get involved.
A psychological study that took place in Australia focused on the concept of ‘mindfulness’ and mental health. The idea of ‘mindfulness’ has become popular in the past two decades. These institutes and universities in Australia have done a joint study on ‘mindfullness apps’ and their quality: The Institute of Health & Biomedical Innovation, School of Psychology, and Counseling Queensland University of Technology have released that globally people are using ‘mindfulness training’ in the workplace in order to create more stable and productive workers.

Once you downloaded the app, the interface shows you different levels of meditation. Headspace works by the concept of “leveling up”. Users must complete and master a level of meditation before they can move on to the more advanced section. Each session is about ten minutes long, usually in a video format.
The app is set up so that users complete one sessions (one meditation) everyday for ten days. After ten days series a series is completed. Currently there are six series for users to complete: Foundation, Sport, Health, Relationships, Performance, and Headspace Pro. Each series after the introductory series has different categories and meditation tasks for you to complete. Users are not able to preview other categories’ sessions until they have “unlocked them” by completing the sessions up to that point. Additionally, the app offers “one-off” meditation sessions called “Singles” for users to do on-the-go when they don’t have time to complete a full sessions. Some of the “Single” sessions include: SOS, Sleeping, Sport On-The-Go, Fear of Flying, Commuting, Walking, Running, etc.
Headspace also has a subsection of meditation for kids. These are short meditations that are applicable to toddlers to preteens. These sessions range from one to five minutes.
Headspace runs on a subscription system: Monthly $12.99/month, Yearly $7.92/month, Forever (one time payment) $399.99.

(Put at intro to wiki)
According to Kate Pickert at TIME magazine, Headspace is a “gym memebership for the mind”.
Research on effectiveness of meditation:
Scientists have proven that meditation and the awareness and practice of mindfulness training can lower cortisol levels, blood pressure, and increase immune response. There have also been theories that meditation can affect the gene expression in your offspring. Mindfulness has been proven to counteract the harm that is created in our body when we constantly hold onto stress and trauma memories. (TIME Magazine, 2014)
