From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

In the Wikipedia article, "History of the Pittsburgh Steelers," there happens to be a few edits/changes I'd like to make, as well as add a few ideas and things that I believe will strengthen the article as a whole. The Pittsburgh Steelers' current Wikipedia entry starts in 1933, the year the team was established. The formation and early history of the team are not mentioned in the article, though. The page should go into detail regarding the founding of the team, the founders, and how they came to own the franchise in order to give a more thorough history of the team. As far as coaching goes, some of the most significant players and coaches in the team's history, including Chuck Noll and Terry Bradshaw, are briefly mentioned in the article. While it is true that a lot of other athletes and coaches also contributed significantly to the team's success, it's important to acknowledge them. The article needs to discuss the accomplishments and efforts of coaches Bill Cowher and Mike Tomlin as well as players Franco Harris, Lynn Swann, and Hines Ward. Both culturally and economically, the Pittsburgh Steelers have had a huge influence on the city of Pittsburgh. The article has to discuss how the team's accomplishments have impacted the city and its citizens, including the financial advantages of having a great sports team and the team's significance to the city's culture. The Pittsburgh Steelers are a football team that also significantly affects the neighborhood they represent. The webpage should provide details about the team's humanitarian endeavors, neighborhood outreach initiatives, and other ways they give back to Pittsburgh and the surrounding areas. As far as structural/grammatical errors go, I highlighted them in my copy edit assignment, and more will be highlighted in the official article.

NOTE-- Not much will be deleted from the article if at all, most information is factual, just could be expanded and/or changed.

Edits

1) ADD- Expand on management history/earliest history

Using newly found sources this aspect will be expanded in the beginning few paragraphs of the article

2) ADD- Expand on specific players/coaches that have had a great impact on the team.

A couple players are touched on but not given enough credit for their contributions throughout team history. A couple big names that will be added and expanded upon are highlighted in the proposal.

3) ADD- Expansion on the team's impact on the city, specific players contributions/charity. A secondhand source detailing a public experience one has had with a specific charity ran by the franchise would be a perfect example

ADD a section detailing the "Crucial Catch" charity and it's effects on Pittsburgh as a whole

ADD this section after all the sections that detail a specific year in Steeler's history.

4) ADD- Create citations for the section: History of the Pittsburgh Steelers#:~:text=2020: 11–0 start, slow finish, and COVID-19

Some of the information in this section can be challenged; possibly even removed
