Arrigo Musti (Palermo, 15 September 1969) is an Italian painter.

Bio[edit]

He grew up in Bagheria (PA), where he started his artistic activity in 2006[1].

In 2008, two of his paintings are purchased by Serge Brammertz, chief prosecutor at the international tribunal for the former Yugoslavia. These are permanently exhibited at the International Criminal Court (ICC).

Within the topic of violence against human being, in 2009, he held a solo exhibition at the Wright State University and at Dayton International Peace Museum. The art historians Maurizio Calvesi and Augusta Monferini[2] presented the exhibition. Numerous solo exhibitions were held in several other places worldwide.

He has been appointed by the director Giuseppe Tornatore, he participates to the 54th International Venice Biennale[3](2011) at Arsenale Venezia (Italian Pavilion - catalogue published by Skira, 2011, “Art is not ‘Cosa Nostra’” by Vittorio Sgarbi).

In 2012, a solo exhibition was held at the institutional headquarter of Montecitorio (Italian Chamber of Deputies). The catalogue of the exhibition was presented by the art historian Marisa Vescovo, and Renato Guttuso’s son, Fabio Caparezza Guttuso.

During the solo exhibition at the Pittalà Gallery in Bagheria, the art historian Lorenzo Canova described Arrigo Musti’s latest art works as an innovative synthesis of the classicism and modernism of Lucio Fontana.

He currently lives and works in Bagheria and Rome.
