South African producer and entrepreneur (born 1991).

Early Life

Kgomotso 'Montoedi' Kotu later Chi was born in Garden City Hospital in Johannesburg South Africa in 1991. He is the second eldest child out four children from Dr Shimmy C. Kotu and Mrs Mercy Kotu.

During the Kotu's second pregnancy there were serious medical problems in keeping the pregnancy, along with the realization of Dr Kotu and his wife blood-types being O - positive and O - negative, such couples are discouraged by medical experts to have any pregnancies. Chief Chi K miraculously survived the medical complications and was born with a huge birth mark on his neck.

He attended primary school in Ridgevale Primary school in the late 90's and started participating with extra school activities in 2001 by representing the school with a juniour chess club. He won a board prize the very same year trying out the sport and was promoted the following year as a juniour chess captain in group B.

In 2003 Kotu's parents noticed that the South African government was introducing in government schools different religions in their curriculums, so this indeed was a problem for a Christian family so he was pulled from the school to attend a Christian Private school for a few years until he and his siblings were home-schooled.

In 2008 after struggling in his academic years, he did a course in DJ MIX CLUB and obtained his Diploma. Following that course he did an IT course in SOWETO DIGITAL VILLAGE completed the course and obtained his Certificate.

With this academic momentum his parents thought it would be a sensible idea to do another course in order to equip him for the corporate world. So he attended a course in South West Gauteng College Roodepoort Region. The second year into his course in Hospitality Services and Catering he volunteered to be a Class Rep for a month however he dropped being a Class rep as it was difficult juggling that along with his studies. He dropped out of the course upon realizing that the course was not accredited and constant mis-administration of funds that forever took place in the institution. His father did not take kindly to Chief Chi K dropping the course on his final year but ultimately accepted his decision after many months of silence between the father and son.

Career

Now Chief Chi K tried to make a living through trying out certain small business ventures along side also participating with ministerial activities to keep him away from being idle as constantly struggling to get a job which he called the situation a blessing in disguise.

With Ministerial activities he would occasionally assist his father with the churches website along with the Philanthropy.

In late 2017 Chief Chi K, volunteered to assist his father with voice overs for Dr Kotu's Internet Radio Station Shimmy Kotu Ministeries USA/WORLD (SKM USA/WORLD) a subsidiary of an American based Internet Radio Station.

The American producers were so impressed with the presentation and his deep voice which earned him a job and a time slots in (SKM RADIO NETWORK USA/WORLD).

In May of 2019 Chief Chi K founded his own Internet radio station UNITED KINGDOM RADIO NETWORK USA/WORLD a subsidiary of an American based Internet Radio station. That's when they started being called Chief Chi K.

Why he is not using the last name is because he refused to live under his father's shadow.

For the next 7 years he was fully occupied in Philanthropy and other ministerial activities.

Chief Chi K has taken a lengthy break from Philanthropy however he is still involved in other ministerial activities.
