Jean Birkenstein Washington (d. 2003, age 77) was a Chicago civil rights activist, and mother of Robin Washington. She was also a teacher, artist, and published poet.[1] She was white and Jewish.[2] She worked closely with the Committee for Racial Equality (CORE)[3] and did outreach to teen gang members as a teacher.[4]
Her paintings were displayed in Duluth in 2005.[5]
