Deen Dayal Upadhayay Nagar also known as Mughalsarai, (the official name until 2017) is a city and a municipal board in the Chandauli district of Uttar Pradesh. Located around 16 kilometres (10 mi) from Varanasi, it is an important railway junction in Uttar Pradesh.[1]

Location

Mughalsarai ( Now called Deen Dayal Upadhayay Nagar) is bisected by NH 19/ GT Road in three parts. The northern part mainly consists of railway colonies like (Vasant Vihar), New Central Colony, Diesel Colony, Haper Colony, Mahmoodpur, Shubhash Nagar, Loco Colony and Roza Colony, Plant-Depot Colony. It starts after the Parao Road in Varanasi and continue till Alinagar Road which comes after Railway Colony on the south.It has also few Mohallas near to the railway station like Qassab mohal, and Gram panchayat like Amoghpur, Taranpur , Pashurampur, Dharamshala, Mainatali and Galla mandi etc.howeverin other part of the town are situated several colonies namely kailashpuri,ravinagar,patel nagarand shubhash nagar.Kailashpuri colony is the poshest area in town.Mughalsarai is among one of the richest nagarpalika's in uttar pradesh and is called mini mahanagar Lal Bahadur Shastri, India's second Prime Minister was born in Mughalsarai.Sadhana singh is honourable mla(BJP)&Rekha jaiswal is present chairman(BJP) of nagarpalika parishad Mughalsarai. also known for choreographer aditya aryan

Railways

The Mughalsarai Railway Station is the fourth busiest station in India, with about 125 passenger trains passing through the Mughalsarai Junction. Two important railway lines intersect at the junction.
