My Wikipedia article will be on Castle Clinton or otherwise known as Fort Clinton. I plant to contribute information that predates all the existing information on the article. Castle Clinton is a very important national monument for the history of America, being that it was the first place where immigrants came. I want to elaborate more on the history of what Fort Clinton actually is and otherwise illustrate some of its significance adding to the article. My first source tells when Fort Clinton was actually captured and on what expedition. The second source explains the whole history leading up to and after what happened when Fort Clinton was actually captured.
Adding to Immigration Section Section.
- I added more about why Immigration Services were moved to Ellis Island. I talked about how the spread of cholera and smallpox from the immigrants coming in caused thousands of deaths in NYC and it caused for a need to move to a more isolated place farther away from where people lived.
- I also added about how the immigration workers were abusing their power and stealing and hustling from the immigrants who didn't know what was going on as they were just new to the country.
