Hello. I'm trying to make wikipedia a better resource for information about drug testing reagents. If you would like to help, I have begun compiling a list of articles which need creating here.
Articles in progress can be found in this category.
I am also compiling some useful links here:
Morris reagent: Modified Cobalt Thiocyanate Presumptive Color Test for Ketamine Hydrochloride
UNODC report on drug testing (old pdf)
UNODC amphetamine like substance testing
2.1. Preparation of reagents
[edit]Reagent A1: Add 8-10 drops (approx. 0.25 ml) of 37% formaldehyde solution to 10 ml glacial acetic acid. Reagent A2: concentrated sulfuric acid
Gallic Acid Reagent
[edit]Dissolve 0.5 g of gallic acid in 100 ml concentrated sulfuric acid. Gallic acid reagent was found to degrade slowly turning the reagent pale violet. To make the reagent more stable, gallic acid was dissolved in absolute ethanol and the sulfuric acid was directly added on the spot plate (2-component reagent).
Dissolve 1.0 g of selenious acid in 100 ml of concentrated sulfuric acid.
Dissolve 0.5 g molybdic acid or sodium molybdate in 100 ml of hot concentrated sulfuric acid.
Dissolve 1.0 g of ammonium vanadate in 100 ml of concentrated sulfuric acid.
Phloroglucinol
[edit]Reagent 1: Dissolve 50 mg of phloroglucinol (1,3,5-trihydroxybenzene) in 5 ml of absolute ethanol. Reagent 2: Concentrated hydrochloric acid
