History

[edit]

The name Bystronic first appeared in 1964, when Bystronic Maschinen AG was founded in Bützberg. The company specialized in glass processing. The company’s name is a combination of the names of its three founders Byland, Schneider, and Trösch.

In 2017 Bystronic and the Italian company TTM Laser initiate a strategic partnership. Bystronic expands this partnership in 2018 with a complete takeover of the specialist for laser-assisted tube and profile processing. Bystronic acquires a stake in the Swiss startup Embotech (solutions for optimization of machine movements).

2019: With the takeover of the long-standing partner First Cut (PTY) Ltd., Bystronic launches direct sales in South Africa. In the same year, the Swiss FMG and the Italian TTM Laser are fully integrated into the Bystronic brand, and the company also opens a subsidiary in Thailand. Bystronic enters into a strategic partnership with Kurago, a Basque software company specialized in the development of software for intelligent production management.

In 2020, Bystronic’s subsidiary in the Netherlands takes over the long-standing service partner Weber Laserservice BV in Heteren, NL. Bystronic enters into a strategic partnership with the Nasdaq-listed company IPG Photonics from Oxford, Massachusetts, USA. Together, these two technology pioneers are developing the next generation of fiber lasers.

With the stake in the Swiss company LIP Automation (solutions in the field of industrial image processing), Bystronic secures additional technical know-how for the acceleration of the bending process. In addition, Bystronic acquires 100% of the Chinese company DNE Laser in Shenzhen, China.
