SOCIETY & CULTURE The family is the centre of the social structure and includes the nuclear family as we have in the United States. Filipino get strength and stability from their family , as such many children have several Godparents. It is common for the family to work and live together.

Concepts of Shame Hiya is shame and is a major motivating factor behind behavior. In this culture if you do not live up to the behavior policy you are causing shame to yourself and your family.

Transportation-

Carts and Buggies Horses Vans Taxis

It is very rare a household will have a car in this culture.

Food & Etiquette- Filipino In the Philippines they eat mostly every entree with rice. They will also eat with there hands and do not wear shoes at any meal. The greeting comes in and you allow yourself time to bless the older person in the room. You usually gather with family to eat. You are also never supposed to use the word hostess/host in the Philippines, this means something different as dinner host or hostess.

My favorite Philippines ritual: They have another meaning and their own understanding for family values and respect for one another. Filipino Culture believe highly about respect and how you and your family live.
