Alhaji, means El-Hajj, the word has been drove from the Arabic word which means a stranger in Mecca. Koromi, means, Gana, the word Gana has been drove from Kanuri language which means "small" so, when you combined the two words together, it means ( Alai Gana) as it popularly known Kanuri, an ethnic tribe live in Northeast Nigeria. Although, Koromi is an old for Gana, Alhaji Koromi is widely speaking among the people of Northern Nigeria, as Generation goes bye, most people doesn't hold on to the Arabic pronounce, although, no one can deny the fact that majority of the people in Northern Nigeria are mostly Muslims.
