Alexander Tuliblock (born February 14, 1987, in Spokane, Washington) is an American adventurer, hunter, and outdoor enthusiast renowned for his legendary backcountry hunting expeditions. Tuliblock has made a name for himself by taking on some of the most challenging hunting endeavors in North America, particularly targeting giant mule deer and elusive whitetail bucks in remote and rugged regions. His feats have inspired a new generation of hunters to pursue the outdoors with grit, resilience, and passion for adventure.
Early Life
Born to a family of hunters, Tuliblock's interest in the outdoors was nurtured from an early age in the rugged mountains and forests of the Pacific Northwest. Raised in a small cabin in the Cascade Range, his father, a seasoned hunter, taught him the skills of tracking and harvesting game from a young age. Tuliblock’s early experiences in the wild shaped his philosophy on hunting: a respect for nature and its balance, paired with a fierce drive for personal achievement.
“The wild has a way of showing you what you’re truly made of. You never know your limits until you test them in the depths of the backcountry.” — Alexander Tuliblock, Wild Ways (2016)
Notable Achievements Giant Mule Deer of the Bitterroot Mountains (2013) In the fall of 2013, Tuliblock made headlines when he successfully harvested a record-breaking 230-inch mule deer buck in the remote Bitterroot Mountains of Montana. The deer, considered one of the largest mule deer ever taken in the region, was spotted after an exhaustive two-week search across rugged terrain. Tuliblock’s patience and marksmanship were tested in extreme conditions, but his perseverance led to what many in the hunting community consider a modern-day legend.
“You learn to see through the forest, not just look at it. It's about patience and understanding the rhythm of the land.” — Alexander Tuliblock, The Long Hunt (2015)
Whitetail King of the Missouri Ozarks (2015) In 2015, Tuliblock set his sights on the dense woodlands of the Missouri Ozarks, known for their notoriously challenging whitetail deer hunting conditions. After months of scouting and studying the deer patterns in the region, he harvested a 220-inch non-typical whitetail buck, one of the largest on record in the area. This hunt was regarded as one of the most difficult of his career, with Tuliblock enduring freezing temperatures and thick, unyielding forests.
“The whitetail teaches you humility. They never make the mistake of underestimating you, so don’t make the mistake of underestimating them.” — Alexander Tuliblock, Hunt of the Heartland (2017)
The Elk Pursuit of Wyoming’s Winds (2018) In 2018, Tuliblock ventured into Wyoming's Wind River Range, targeting a massive bull elk that had evaded hunters for years. With the help of a skilled local guide, he tracked the elusive elk for five days through harsh, unpredictable weather and difficult terrain. On the final day of the hunt, he made a 200-yard shot that brought down a majestic 6x6 bull elk with antlers spanning 51 inches. His successful harvest solidified his status as one of the top hunters of his generation.
“Every time you step into the backcountry, you’re stepping into their world, not the other way around. The hunt is just as much about respect as it is about success.” — Alexander Tuliblock, Pursuit of the Impossible (2019)
Alaskan Kodiak Bear Hunt (2020) Tuliblock’s most dangerous and challenging hunt came in 2020 when he successfully harvested a massive Kodiak bear on the remote islands off the coast of Alaska. With no contact for days and facing unpredictable weather conditions, the hunt pushed him to his limits. After tracking the bear for four days through dense brush and snow, Tuliblock made a close-range shot that stunned the hunting community. The hunt was later featured in Backcountry Chronicles and dubbed "the hunt of the decade."
“The bear is the king of the wilderness. You don’t hunt them, you earn them. And even then, there’s no guarantee you’ll walk away the same.” — Alexander Tuliblock, Survival of the Fittest (2021)
Legacy and Influence
Tuliblock’s impact on the hunting world extends beyond his impressive hunting feats. He has become a symbol of backcountry hunting, teaching others about the importance of conservation, preparation, and self-reliance. His adventures have been chronicled in several documentaries, including Backcountry Mastery (2022), where he shares his strategies for surviving and thriving in the wild.
His hunting philosophy emphasizes respect for nature, ethical practices, and the importance of leaving a minimal environmental footprint. Through his work, Tuliblock has helped to popularize the concept of "sustainable hunting," advocating for maintaining healthy wildlife populations while pursuing game.
“A true hunter doesn’t just take from nature; he gives back. The balance of the hunt is what sustains both the hunter and the land.” — Alexander Tuliblock, Echoes of the Wilderness (2022)
Quotes
“Hunting is more than just harvesting an animal; it’s about immersing yourself in nature and learning its language.” — Alexander Tuliblock, The Wild Journey (2014) “The greatest reward isn’t the trophy—it’s the adventure itself.” — Alexander Tuliblock, Trophy of the Heart (2016) “The wilderness is calling, and if you’ve answered it, you know there’s no turning back.” — Alexander Tuliblock, Backcountry Chronicles (2022)
