FOXERS is an Atlanta, Georgia-based lingerie company founded in 2007 that mainly manufactures underwear and other undergarments for women. FOXERS specializes in women's underwear that borrow the waistband from men's boxer shorts.

History

[edit]

Founding

[edit]

Florida Atlantic University graduate and former Saks Fifth Avenue employee April Spring sold her vintage clothing store in Boca Raton, Florida in order to accompany her husband on a job posting in Malaysia for 2 years. While in Malaysia she took courses in apparel design and developed relationships with apparel manufacturers in the area.

While sitting in a cafe in Malaysia, a conversation about whether women intend for their underwear to be visible above low-rise jeans led April to an idea... a pair of underwear that if unintentionally seen, would not be embarrassing to the woman wearing them. Hours later, she drew the first rendering of a woman's panty with a boxer short style waistband. The designs were submitted for a patent. April holds two patents on the design. [1] After moving back to the US in 2006, April completed the prototypes and created the first collection of FOXERS. While on vacation in Chicago, she visited the Merchandise_Mart and spoke to lingerie representatives there. Helen Newman loved the line and began selling them to boutiques in the midwest.

Launch

[edit]

In 2007, she launched the FOXERS brand from her home, undertaking all initial calls and marketing herself.

Name

[edit]

April came up with the name FOXERS after receiving word that the working name on the initial prototypes had already been trademarked. The label printing company was able to reprint the labels in time for the factory to sew them into the first collection.

A friend designed the logo, and another friend filed the trademark on the FOXERS name.

Manufacturing

[edit]

She moved to Atlanta, Georgia, and still manufactures with the factories that she met while living in Malaysia.
