Dr Robert Starr Waite was born in Salt Lake City[1], Utah, in 1930[2]. He received a PhD in Geography at the University of California, Los Angeles in 1974 with the dissertation "The proposed Great Basin National Park: A geographical interpretation of the southern Snake Range, Nevada" [3] He is a renowned geologist and geographer, mostly known for his work on the creation of the Great Basin National Park.
