Use

This template creates a userbox indicating whether the user is alive or dead. Place this userbox template on your user page. To use this template, place the following line of Wikitext on your user page:

{{User:AlanM1/Template/User dead|date|info-dead=...|info-notdead=...|info-unknown=...}}

where:

date is the check date or the date of death in yyyymmdd format

info-* (Optional) are alternate messages to display for the three possible states

Please note: This template should not be used facetiously.

Elderly or ill users, or those suffering from hypochondriasis, may wish to let their fellow Wikipedians know that they are still kicking by periodically advancing the check date a few weeks into the future.

This user is not yet dead.

or {{User:AlanM1/Template/User dead|20241201|info-notdead=Still kicking!}} yields:

Still kicking!

If the date parameter is in the past, {{User:AlanM1/Template/User dead|20241006}} yields:

This user is dead.
There is no need to check back later.

or {{User:AlanM1/Template/User dead|20241006|info-dead=<span style="color:red;font-size:14pt;letter-spacing:0.05em">Taking a dirt nap.</span>|info-op="vertical-align:middle;"}} yields:

Taking a dirt nap.

If the date parameter is missing or is not a number, {{User:AlanM1/Template/User dead}} yields:

This user may be alive or dead.

or {{User:AlanM1/Template/User dead|info-unknown=It's complicated.}} yields:

It's complicated.
