Montague Stanley (5 January 1809 - 4 May 1844) was a Scottish painter, actor and evangelist.[1][2]
Life
[edit]His father was Henry Stanley (1790 - 1812), a sailor in the Royal Navy from England. He died in North America, probably New York.[3]
His mother was Helen Hay. When Henry died she remarried and Helen and Montague moved to Nova Scotia and then Jamaica with her new husband. On the death of her second husband, Helen and Montague returned to Scotland.[4]
Montague Talbot Stanley was born in Dundee on 5 January 1809.[5]
He married Mary Susan Eyre (26 October 1809 - 12 June 1881) from London, England. They married in Edinburgh on 31 March 1833.[6]

[edit]He died on 4 May 1844 at Ascog, on the Isle of Bute, where he was buried.[8]
