James Spindler (9 May 1843 - 2 September 1917) was a Scottish painter.[1][2]
Life

His father was William Gustavus Spindler (1811 - 15 July 1884), a teacher of music, originally from Ipswich but settled in Dundee.
His mother was Joanna Hope (22 May 1821 - 26 May 1873) from Paisley. William and Joanna married on 31 May 1842 in Edinburgh.
James Gustavus Hope Spindler was born in Edinburgh on 9 May 1843.[4]
