Joseph Calder Smith (28 February 1877 - 22 July 1955) is a Scottish painter.[1][2]
Life

His father was John Smith (born c. 1842), a stone mason from Arbroath.
His mother was Anne Calder (20 June 1841 - 26 March 1930) from Dunnichen in Angus. John and Anne married in Arbroath on 26 July 1870.
Joseph Calder Smith was born on 28 February 1877 in Arbroath.[5]
During the First World War, Joseph served in the Black Watch.[6]
He married the music teacher Agnes Jane Revel on 5 September 1917 at the manse of Rev. K. C. Anderson in Dundee.[7]
