James Smieton (15 June 1868 - 21 December 1935) was a Scottish painter.[1][2]

Life

His father was James Smieton [Snr] (5 February 1843 - 13 April 1919), an iron turner from Liff, Benvie, Forfarshire.

His mother was Ann Gray (10 March 1844 - 1928) from Barry near Carnoustie in Angus. James [Snr] and Ann married on 25 August 1865 in Barry, Angus.

Jamie Smieton was born in Barry on 15 June 1868.[6][7][8]

He married Christina Kennedy McLaren. They married in Dunkeld in 1907.

He died at Scarborough in England on 21 December 1935. His usual address was Elibank, 104 Glasgow Road in Perth.[9]

The value of his estate was given as £1453, 13 shillings and 10 pence.
