Robert Hunter Sloane (24 July 1870 - 9 January 1941) was a Scottish painter and textile designer.[1]

His father was John Fullarton Sloane (12 March 1819 - 1895), an accountant from Peebles.

His mother was Agnes Johnstone (born 8 March 1831), an amateur artist, from Hackney, London, England. She was the daughter of Francis Napier Johnstone of Edinburgh.[6] John and Agnes married in Hackney on 20 October 1853.[7]

Robert Hunter Sloane was born in Govan, Glasgow on 24 July 1870.[8]

His brother James Fullarton Sloane (13 May 1866 - 7 January 1947) was also an artist.

Death

He died at a nursing home in Haymarket, Edinburgh on 9 January 1941. His usual address was 50 Kekewich Avenue in the city.[9]

The funeral was on 11 January 1941 at Warriston crematorium.[10]
