The UBC Okanagan Library is located in the heart of University of British Columbia Okanagan campus in Kelowna, British Columbia, Canada. Using their website students and faculty can access many amenities such as booking study rooms[1], course reserves, one on one support and much more. The UBC Okanagan Library has access to UBC’s world-class research collections.[2] The Library also holds 200 thousand physical items (books, films, journals, maps, and sound recordings, as well as special collections and archival materials).[2]

History

The UBC Okanagan Library was founded in 2018, as an expansion to the Commons Building. Previously in 2014, students from the UBC Okanagan campus voted for expanding the campus library and learning centre.[3]

Borrowing

Students are allowed to book library books in the UBC Okanagan Libary with a UBCcard, or borrow e-books on UBC Okanagan Library website with UBC student account.[4]

Space

Book Study Space

UBC Okanagan Library provides a bookable space for students and staff to host meetings and group work. Students need to follow some policies before booking a study space. To book a study space, students can visit Book Study Space website.[1]

Student Learning Hub

Student Learning Hub helps students' learning by providing free peer tutoring in writing, language, math, and science, one-on-one support to develop study skills and learning strategies, writing workshops and learning seminars, and support programs on Academic Integrity Matters and Supplemental Learning. Student Learning Hub is located at room LIB 237.[5]

Innovation Library

Innovation Library allows students, staff, and community members to access multipurpose space in the Innovation Library through online booking on | UBC Okanagan Library website.[6]

Inclusive Technology Lab

Inclusive Technology Lab allows students to borrow assistive technologies with a student's UBCcard and borrowing agreement form. Inclusive Technology Lab also has peer tech assistant support which allows students to get assistance help with learning to use, and troubleshoot technologies.[7]
