Part 1:

+ Write an brief explanation of the reason the issues mentioned in the warning banner are important. For example, if the issue is “needs additional citations for verification,” why does that matter? It matters because the information used has to be accurate and it needs to be cited so we can give the credit to the author of the original information used.

+ 2. Is the lead section of the article easy to understand? Does it summarize the key points of the article? Yes it is because it gives a clear definition of what the article is about. It does summarize some of the key points but it lacks certain information.

+ 3. Is the structure of the article clear? “Are there several headings and subheadings, images and diagrams at appropriate places, and appendices and footnotes at the end?” No there is not because it does not show any pictures or diagrams. The structure is separated by countries and there are not many footnotes. It does have several sub- headings that pertain to other parts or aspects in the education section.

+ 4. Are “the various aspects of the topic balanced well”? That is does it seem to provide a comprehensive overview of the topic? They only give a brief overview of the differences in different countries who implement a form of religion. It did not have many details on the topic.

+ 5. Does the article provide a “neutral point of view”? Does it read like an encyclopedia article instead of a persuasive essay? Yes it does have a neutral point of view and it does not read like a persuasive article in my opinion.

+ 6. Are the references and footnotes citing reliable sources? Do they point to scholarly and trustworthy information? Beware of references to blogs; look for references to books, scholarly journal articles, government sources, etc. Yes there are and they do.

7. Look for these signs of bad quality and comment on their presence or absence from the article you are evaluating:

+ a. is the lead section well-written, in clear, correct English? Yes it is.

+ b. are there “unsourced opinions” and/or “value statements which are not neutral”? Not that I could find.

+ c. does the article refer “to ‘some,’ ‘many,’ or other unnamed groups of people,” instead of specific organizations or authors or facts? Yes they do.

+ d. does the article seem to omit aspects of the topic? Yes, most towards a general overview instead of in depth information on the topic.

+ e. are some sections overly long compared to other sections of similar importance to the topic? No they are all lacking information on certain points in the topic.

+ f. does the article lack sufficient references or footnotes? No it does not.

+ g. Look at the “View History” for the article. As you read the conversation there, do you see hostile dialogue or other evidence of lack of respectful treatment among the editors? No I do not think there is hostility, just minor changes.

Part 2:

Evaluate the Wikipedia article you selected using the CARDIO method. Write your answers following each word below:

+ Currency (When was the last update of this article? hint: check the View History): It was last edited on October 16, 2016 at 17:19.

+ Authority (What evidence do you find that the author(s) of this article have the appropriate credentials to write on this topic?): They cite scholarly articles and books that pertain to the subject at hand.

+ Relevance (to your research topic): It is very relevant because I have a research project on Religion in Education, that is going to be due very soon.

+ Depth: It is not very in depth because it doesn't give a general overview on religion in education but more of its influence in different countries.

- Information Format (I hope this one will be easy for you.): It has several scholarly journals and books cited from all over the world.

+ Object (what is the purpose for creating this article?): To inform the general audience on the use of religions in education in several countries and give an overview on the different ways it used and its influence.
