Welcome and Introductions

I joined wikipedia in September 2015, a complete newbie to collaborative writing, I simply needed a new hobby and so proceeded to contribute to a page of a Nollywood actor I really admired!!! and WOAH! did it all go off LOL!!! Turns out apparently; I was very quickly accused of being conflicted and the page edited was hit with a WP COI, which really irritated me. At the time I had no idea, it was probably, one of the best things that would happen to me. The page I edited got nominated for deletion, but I very quickly started to read up on Wikipedia and its various policies and guidelines and of course some really amazing editors reached out. I am still learning the ropes and it will all begin to make sense eventually!
I have always described myself as a bit of nerd, lol, one who absolutely adores Louis Vuitton, Christian Louboutin and all things pretty and nice. In the day time I work in Investment Banking here and at night erm; I plan to spend hours on end contributing to Wikipedia. What are some topics I would love to contribute to? All things fashion, as I am super passionate about it and the Arts. Engineering and Inventions maybe! as I do have a degree in Electrical and Electronics Engineering from here.
Nollywood!!! - definitely, as I love Nigerian movies and think what is being done with the limited resource available is astounding, Books! (YES!) and finally KIDS; as I have the 'cutest' most amazing, most superbly adorable 8 month old son on the planet!!!
I am all about community, so please leave me a message on my talk page! or just say hello, I will ALWAYS comeback to you. I am pretty easy and laid back but can get serious very quickly! I have never really been able to conform to a mould or stereotype... I am just 'me' :)))
I do not like bullies and 'mentoring' in every aspect of every day life is a critical principle for me, 'passing on the baton' is essential for growth and continuity! The greatest organisations on the globe have a very strong 'mentoring' culture!
After the really hostile welcome I received on Wikipedia, I have decided that I am going to focus on being the friendliest face possible to new users :))) and AGF always. I wish I could say every 'editor' I have met on Wikipedia has been helpful, friendly and gentle but the truth is people get territorial and hostile especially to 'new editors' and in my experience, being the 'New Kid', can be tough but persistence is important, as with anything in life! I think a huge number of editors on here are already countering vandalism, plus I would not have a clue at this stage. However, I can always say hello and point people in the right direction or at the very least to a 'helpful' mentor.

Quotes I Love and stand by!

  • 'Simplicity is the keynote of all true elegance' - Coco Chanel
  • 'A girl should be two things classy and fabulous' - Coco Chanel (and intelligent! - Ade :) )
  • 'The best thing to hold onto in life is each other' - Audrey Hepburn
  • 'Paris is always a good idea' - Audrey Hepburn
  • 'Nearly all men can stand adversity, but if you want to test a man's character, give him power' - Abraham Lincoln
  • 'Always bear in mind that your own resolution to succeed is more important than any other' - Abraham Lincoln
  • 'Whatever you are, be a good one' - Abraham Lincoln
  • 'Heroes are not born, they are made' - I have no idea who said this, but absolutely love it!

Lessons I have Learnt on Wikipedia so far This area of my profile is not meant to be static, I will endeavour to update it regularly!

  • If you are serious about editing, do not let anyone frustrate you or make you think you cannot be a good editor! practice, practice, practice!
  • There is a place called the teahouse, where you can get advise or help
  • Adding 'Edit summaries' when you make an edit is good practice
  • If you are like me and have learnt the really bad habit of saving your edits, every 2 seconds, as you go on in everyday life, limit it on Wikipedia, as 'over-contributing' to an article may be deemed as 'suspicious for some reason' - use 'show preview ' to review your changes before saving!
  • Always 'sign' talk pages like so when you contribute to a talk page - Adeadeyemi21 (talk) 21:12, 2 October 2015 (UTC)
  • A shortcut way to 'ping' an editor is {{u|username}}, e.g. {{u|Adeadeyemi21}}. - i thought this was super cool
  • You should never be bullied or harassed on here! Wikipedia has a dispute resolution page
  • There are sooooo many 'policy pages' on Wikipedia - Read! Read!! Read!!! and Familiarise!
  • Always discuss issues with an article, maintenance templates on the subject's talk page not 'your' talk page, it helps if ever disputed
  • Regardless of what you say or do, some editors will believe that you may be a 'paid editor' and very quickly become vindictive; Ignore them just stick to the guidelines. Remember its easy to do this when you are new as you may have not created other pages and therefore no 'track record'
  • Use indents to avoid creating 'a wall of words' so that your edits are readable
  • Whatever you do ALWAYS AGF, there are REAL people behind the usernames on wikipedia. Be gentle and Be Kind!
