Tip of the moment... Graphics Lab
The Graphics Lab is a project to improve the graphical content of the Wikimedia projects. Requests for image improvements can be added to the workshop pages: Illustrations, Photographs and Maps. The Graphics Lab helps improve all graphical content stored on Wikimedia Commons and the English Wikipedia. For examples of work done by the Graphics Lab, see the archives of past work. For questions or suggestions, use the talk pages: Talk:Graphics Lab, Talk:Illustrations, Talk:Photographs and Talk:Maps. Interested in helping out? Check out the uploading standards, then go to one of the workshops you are skilled at, and lend a hand. You can also add your entry to Wikigraphist abilities and yourself to Category:Wikigraphists. You can also add {{User Wikigraphist}} or {{Mbox Wikigraphist}} to your user page. – – | ||

Usage
[edit]This is the {{User:Acagastya/totdr}}
template. This template displays the Tip of the Day box which is much similar to the {{totd-random}}.
This template is intended to be used at the top of the users' talk page.
Do not use the Wiki-code substitute for this template.
Who can use it?
[edit]This template can be used by any editor who wish to have a tip of the day box on their talk page.
Parameters
[edit]This template has five parameters:
Border Color
[edit]The parameter is used to change the border color of the box:|border-c=
Enter either the color name or the hexadecimal value for this parameter.
NOTE: Do not forget to use the symbol #
before the hexadecimal value.
- The default border color in this template is BLACK.
- I am not sure but this feature might not be available in
{{totd-random}}
.
Width of the box
[edit]This parameter is used to change the width of the box.|width=
You may choose the size either by the pixels example: |width=80px
or the percentage (%) value example: |width=80%
.
- Default is set at 100px.
- I am not sure but this feature might not be available in
{{totd-random}}
.
Border Radius
[edit]This parameter is used to obtain the curved edges of the of the box.|border-radius=

or the percentage (%) value example: |border-radius=10%
.
- Default is set at 0px.

{{totd-random}}

NOTE: If you are assigning the value to this parameter using percentage (%); You would probably hate the look. It is depicted in the examples.
Image to purge
[edit]This parameter is used to change the image used to purge the tip.|img=
Enter the name of the image you think would be appropriate.
NOTE: You need to mention the image as example: |img=:Example

{{totd-random}}

- Default value of this parameter is 30px.
- I am not sure but this feature might not be available in
{{totd-random}}
.
Function
[edit]The function of this template is to display The tip of the Moment.
Difference between this and the original template
[edit]- I am pretty sure that in the original template, you won't be able to customise it.
- The space consuming bulbs' filament is broken! will not appear in this template. That is one of the reasons which lead to creation of this template.
- To add this auto-updating template to your user page, use {{totd-random}}....Say goodbye to this space occupying thing.
- But not this: Become a Wikipedia tipster. I can't remove it. There will be a huge loss to those who want to learn new tips.
Examples
[edit]Because the Tip of the Moment changes every time when purged and as the tip aren't of the uniform size: I will club the parameters together.

Tip of the moment... Tagging pages for problems
"Tags" are often used to indicate problems. Some Wikipedia editors object to the practice of tagging instead of fixing, but there is value in pointing out an article's problems. Tagging allows editors to specialize, teaches editors and warns readers about subpar or problematic content. It is better if people solve the problems they encounter themselves, but not everyone may be able to. Editors are sometimes obliged to justify inclusion of tags, such as in the case of Template:POV. Constructive criticism given in a civil, respectful manner is a vital part in a collaborative project like Wikipedia, and it should be welcomed rather than discouraged. Wikipedia values contributions from everyone—novices and experts alike. It is important to listen to readers who find an article biased, confusing or unconvincing. They might not have the expertise to fix those problems, but the fact that they report them probably means that an article needs improvement. – – |

's value is set in percentage (%)

Tip of the moment... Advice for parents
The Wikipedia help page, Advice for parents, is provided to help parents, guardians, teachers, and other adults consider the best way to allow children they are responsible for to engage with Wikipedia safely and enjoyably. The most useful piece of advice guardians can give to younger editors is to never divulge any personally identifiable information (name, age, location, school) on Wikipedia—or anywhere else publicly available on the Internet for that matter. Wikipedia is not censored, and contains explicit material and images. Parental controls may be able to help. You may also be interested in another independent project, the Schools' Wikipedia—a specific selection of about 5,500 articles from the English Wikipedia, suitable for school children, which has been checked and edited for this audience. – – |
