Zoe Lewczak

[edit]

Zoe Lewczak (born March 9, 1999) is an aspiring American bioethicist and social media content creator.[2] She continues to share her nontraditional educational journey and tips on her TikTok, @GradSchoolTips.[3] Lewczak received a BS in cognitive neuroscience and bioethics from the University of Virginia and captained the Virginia Riding Team, leading two Collegiate Cup championships and an American National Riding Commission championship.[4] She also represented the team at the Taylor Harris Insurance Services NHS Adult Equitation Championship,[5] while also competing with Team USA in the World University Equestrian Federation.[6] At the AIEC-SRNC World Finals France (Yssingeaux) in 2023, she claimed the individual silver medal in showjumping.[7]

Zoe is currently studying Bioethics at Harvard Medical School[8] and continues to publish and create medical ethics-related content focusing on a range of topics, like technology, population health, intergenerational justice, and care ethics.[9] Her previous tobacco-control advocacy led to the passing of HB 2384 and SB 1295 in Virginia's legislation banning tobacco and e-cigarette products on all school property.[10][11] For nearly a decade of her childhood, Lewczak was part of the junior committee that organizes the Warrenton Pony Show (Virginia), ultimately becoming the president, and contributing to over $50,000 in fundraising efforts towards the Fauquier SPCA.[4]

Lewczak is currently a Byron Hanke Fellow studying how community associations can improve infrastructure to promote senior resident well-being.[12] This research aims to enhance the quality of life for older adults living in spaces overseen by community associations. By examining the common challenges posed by aging infrastructure in these communities, the study seeks to identify strategies for creating more accessible and inclusive living environments.[12] The findings will inform guidelines for community associations on how to improve infrastructure and address mental health concerns within their communities, with a goal of increasing residents’ health span, the length of time that individuals remain healthy and active.[12]
