Dr. Vicki Halsey is an instructional trainer, author, and vice president of applied learning for The Ken Blanchard Companies. As a keynote speaker she has trained for dozens of different companies, including Nike, Bank of America, American Red Cross, Toyota, Sony, and Pfizer. [1][2]
Biography[edit]
Vicki received a bachelor’s degree in American studies from the University of California, Davis; a master’s degree in educational administration from San Diego State University; and a PhD in educational leadership from University of San Diego. [3] Before becoming a teacher she was a national champion platform diver. She currently lives in San Diego with her husband Rick. [4]
Writing credits[edit]
Halsey's first book, The Hamster Revolution, was published in 2008 and co-written with Mike Song and Tim Burress. Using a parable about a businessman who wakes up as a hamster, the book discusses the negative effects that instantaneous communication methods (like email) can have on productivity and provides a framework for optimizing one's time management and communication venues. The book is a bestseller and was succeeded with a follow-up The Hamster revolution For Meetings, which has been translated into 11 different languages. [5] [6] Halsey's next book, Brilliance by Design, was published in 2011 and focuses on teaching educators and leaders how to bring out the best in those they oversee. [7] [8] She's also one of the authors of Leading at a Higher Level with Ken Blanchard. [9]
