Arthur Otto Eger (1950, The Hague, Netherlands) studied Industrial Design Engineering at Delft University of Technology. In 1979 he was co-founder of the design bureau Van Dijk/Eger/Associates (nowadays known as WeLL Design).

In 1996 he left the bureau to become the director of Space Expo, a space museum and the official visitors centre of the European Space Agency (ESA).

From 2003-2015 he was Professor at the University of Twente, Chair: Product Design, Research area: Evolutionary Product Development.

Since 2004 he was a Member, from 2009 until 2018 the Chairman and from then until 2020 Counsellor of the Board of the Department of Industrial Design Engineering of KIVI, the Royal Institution of Engineers in the Netherlands.

Arthur Eger has a broad experience in Industrial Design Engineering, he published over 30 books and more than 100 articles and papers on topics such as product design, graphic design, architecture, decorative art, and traveling.

He was (and is) member of many juries: Aluminum Award, Good Industrial Design Award, the Dutch Design Awards (Nederlandse Designprijzen), Design for All Award, ESEF Awards (Chair in 2006, 2008, 2010, 2012, 2014 and 2016), Shell LiveWIRE Young Business Award (Chair).

He gave (and gives) many guest lectures and keynote speeches, amongst others for the Delft University of Technology, Radboud University Nijmegen (Netherlands), University of Groningen (RUG)(Netherlands), National University of St Augustin of Arequipa (Peru), Munster University of Applied Sciences (Germany), Jiaotong University (Beijing, China), Xiamen University (Xiamen, China) and Zhejiang Wanli University (Ningbo, China). He has been peer reviewer for several conferences and scientific journals and expert witness in plagiarism cases.

Since 1995 he is Chairman of the Board of the Mobach Ceramics Foundation.

From 1997-2000 he was a member of the Editorial Board of Product Magazine, from 2000-2013 he was Chief Editor of this magazine (a journal on Industrial Design Engineering).

From 1998-2003 he was Vice President of APOGEES (Association pour Promouvoir, Organiser, Gérer des Expositions et des Evénements relatifs à l’actualité Spatiale), Paris (France).

In 2019 he wrote, on invitation of the Tsinghua University (Beijing, China) a series of entries for the third edition of the Chinese Encyclopedia.
