[edit]

I'm liking the new username, Oli! Your new userbox fetish is a bit weird, though: how can you be of no ancestry and of Irish ancestry? And how can you always keep perfect spelling but love 1337 and AIM speak?

Haha, though, we should make a <<removed name - edit the page to see name>> page... or make it a redirect to Body Odour or something :).

Moving pages

[edit]

Just to let you know for future reference- when moving pages (in your case to revert vandalism) please use the 'move' tag to preserve the page history, rather than simply copy+pasting the content. You can then tag the resulting redirect page for speedy deletion. Let me know if you have any questions. Cheers, Petros471 21:55, 14 July 2006 (UTC)

Didn't know that existed - thanks for telling me. 0L1 21:58, 14 July 2006 (UTC)

Table formatting

On my user page, is there a way to make the userboxes go on the left, with the text going on the right? 0L1 10:11, 2 September 2006 (UTC)

Hi there, Im not quite sure what you mean. Do you mean by any chance you want your userboxes on the right hand side of the page like shown on my page? If not, please correct me!
Kind Regards

Yes - just what I wanted! I used the formatting from your user page to get it working. Thankyou for your time and help. 0L1 16:35, 2 September 2006 (UTC)

World oil market timeline

[edit]

I have noticed that either these pages have been copied from elsewhere or other sites have copied these pages. Do you know about this? You can find them by copying a chunk of an article and searching for it on Google. 0L1 15:48, 3 September 2006 (UTC)

Hi Oli,
Yes, most of the information was copied and edited from U.S. Department of Energy documents located here. As it is a work of the U.S. federal government, I believe it is in the public domain. I posted a question about this over at Wikipedia:Copyright problems quite a while ago but have yet to recieve a response. I was not the one that copied the documents to Wikipedia, I have simply been cleaning them up (although admittedly, I haven't worked on them in quite some time). Hope this helps. Green451 16:24, 3 September 2006 (UTC)
Sure - just thought I would check. 0L1 17:36, 3 September 2006 (UTC)

Help From fellow Wikipedians against censorship!

Thank you for your time I was wondering if i could ask your opinion?? :)

Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/G. Edward Griffin here is the Article on G. Edward Griffin that I have just reconstructed and am still in the process of doing, But it's been put up for deletion?.

I was wondering if you could pitch in a comment in any direction you feel but I believe this man is very notable having Authored such books as The Creature from Jekyll Island a history of the Federal Reserve Act of 1913, but also many many more films as well, also being a member of many organisations.

Me being an inclusionist of sorts I would rather see changes made rather than a wholesale deletion, what do you think?

The man is very notable he has been doing this sort of work since the 60’s when he created the “The Capitalist Conspiracy” one of the first and most documented histories of Political Corruption in film that I know of.

Thank you for all your help, I’m just starting out in Wikipedia I have created the Benjamin H. Freedman, article and reconstructed the The Money Masters article and some others but I need help here! Any help of mine you may need or want in any regard in the future just ask :)

Also any contribution you would like to make to improve the article please consider!

-Theblackbay 09:29, 4 September 2006 (UTC)

I voted keep on the article because I think that he's notable enough. 0L1 09:31, 4 September 2006 (UTC)

Your editor review

[edit]

Hi! I noticed a few minutes ago that you'd accidentally placed your request for editor review at the bottom of the list, rather than the top. Since people don't normally notice requests that aren't at the very top, I took the liberty of moving it for you, and completing the request itself. There are now two questions for you to answer at the bottom of the page, which will make it easier for other people to suggest ways to improve your editing.

Nothing wrong with making a simple mistake like this, particularly given that the instructions aren't particularly friendly to people who've never requested review before. I'll be rewriting them when I have the time. In the meantime, I've given you a quick review, and hope you see you around more in the future. Good luck! Daveydweeb (chat/patch) 09:55, 4 September 2006 (UTC)

[edit]

Not that the end result is really much different, but you don't need to pipe a plural term to a singular like you did with "crabs" in the stingray article. The preferred form is as crabs was before the edit - it saves space and the software automatically blends the link. See the Links & URLs section for more information. --Xanzzibar 10:10, 4 September 2006 (UTC)

Sorry - I thought it didn't look very good with only part of a word linked. 0L1 10:16, 4 September 2006 (UTC)
No apologies necessary - like I said, not a big deal. Just a friendly FYI. --Xanzzibar 10:20, 4 September 2006 (UTC)
Changed the link to [[crabs]].
Looked it up - I see what you mean. I thought that having [[crab]]s would appear like crab s (but without the space).

Harry Potter 7

[edit]

Hello Nice to see that some new faces have recently become interested in commenting on the article. However, I am interested to know how you became involved with the page? It would seem that someone came along and changed the title without any discussion. Then someone started a debate about a different title. A number of people I have never seen comment on a Harry Potter page then opposed the proposed further move. This is quite extraordinary attention for a HP page.

No one has yet explained the grounds for changing the page from its original title. Can you explain why this was done? It was also done by someone who had never edited the page before and was pretty inexperienced. A justification was given, but not explained. Then an anon deleted the debate. Also very strange. Why would anyone do this? Sounded like someone wanted to avoid discussion. While I do not think it likely that people would have opposed the page title change if it is satifactorily explained, this has still not been done. I do not see how any change of title can be discussed or considered unless someone explains why it needed to be moved in the first place. Sandpiper 08:02, 21 September 2006 (UTC)

Thanks for getting back. Someone has finally explained that this was a procedural vote on the third (?) move, rather than a discussion about what would be the best name. Which explains why it was so very peculiar. Sandpiper 19:25, 21 September 2006 (UTC)

Thanks for the excellent tutorial on signatures. Do you know a way to change the background of the signature black? Thanks for your help. 0L1 - Talk - Contribs 19:24, 3 October 2006 (UTC)

Vandalism

[edit]

I was about ot remove some vandalism on the William Shakespeare article, but you had beat me to it! Being fairly new to RC patrol, what is the quickest way to revert such edits? Thanks for the help. 0L1 - User - Talk - Contribs - 17:25 22 2006 (UTC)

The quickest method of reversion is the use of a rollback script. To install the script, you can copy the text of User:John254/monobook.js into User:0L1/monobook.js When viewing a diff that includes the latest revision of a page, you should see a [rollback] link, that, when selected, will revert the page to the last revision not by the latest editor. If I take a screenshot of a program or website and upload it, what licence should it have? Do I choose it, or must the owners of the site/application choose it? Thanks, 0L1 - User - Talk - Contribs - 14:10 23 2006 (UTC)

It would more than likely be fair use, and in which case you'd want to use these tags: {{Web-screenshot}}, {{Software-screenshot}}, and {{Windows-software-screenshot}}. — User:ACupOfCoffee@ 08:54, 24 October 2006 (UTC)

Fedora Core Live-spins

[edit]

I noticed that you've edited this article many times, so I assume that you know a lot about the distro. Do you know if the Fedora Core Live-spins contain an installer to the hard disk? Thanks, 0L1 Talk Contribs 14:56 26 10 2006 (UTC)

I actually moved to Ubuntu some time ago, but thanks for pointing out the Live Spins. Fedora was first in adopting GNOME, but last in creating live CDs - I guess it all keeps the balance. My best advice to you is to download the ISO and use "qemu -cdrom isoname.iso" to boot it up on your existing linux installation. That way, you can go looking for the installer without having to burn a CD and reboot your computer. Hope this helps, Samsara (talk · contribs) 15:42, 26 October 2006 (UTC)

Doubt i would be any good at fixing it. However, your recent edits to the Haary Potter book 7 article has mucked up the reference section. Simply south 14:18, 29 October 2006 (UTC)

[edit]

It's just a bit long. I think it would be better if you don't square the time stamp (Are you using Magic Words {{LOCALTIME}} {{CURRENTDAY}} {{CURRENTMONTH}} {{CURRENTYEAR}}). Also, make the border a bit less visible. Something like this:

0L1Talk Contribs

I think it looks more nice and tidy this way. Also less characters (I trimmed down 39 characters. Still large though). AQu01rius (User • Talk) 17:00, 25 December 2006 (UTC)

Looks better. I still think 1px border would look better & less distracting though. But that's just my opinion =) AQu01rius (User • Talk) 18:47, 25 December 2006 (UTC)

RE: template:welcome0L1

[edit]

Yes, I was having problems, but if you look at the rest of what I said, I fixed it. It was a problem with spacing somewhere else, not where I put my ~'s. Oh yes, and you don't need the 2nd variable in there any more (eg. {{subst:Template0L1|Example|Example}} ~~~~). I changed it so the page name is automatic. I like this template the most so far, btw.
