Diriyah Gate project Arabic: مشروع بوابة الدرعية a huge vital cultural tourism project, was established by King Salman bin Abdulaziz in November 2019. It will be built on an area of 1,500,000 square meters in addition to the largest Islamic museum in the world and will include an integrated mud city that includes King Salman library in addition to markets, commercial complexes, restaurants and sites parties.[1][2][3]

Diriyah[edit]

Diriyah [4](Arabic: الدرعية), formerly romanized as Dereyeh[5] and Dariyya[6], is a town in Saudi Arabia located on the north-western outskirts of the Saudi capital, Riyadh. Diriyah was the original home of the Saudi royal family, and served as the capital [7][8]of the Emirate of Diriyah under the first Saudi dynasty from 1744 to 1818. Today, the town is the seat of the Diriyah Governorate, which also includes the villages of Uyayna, Jubayla, and Al-Ammariyyah, among others, and is part of Ar Riyad Province.

Importance[edit]

Al-Diriyah represents a prominent national symbol in the history of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. The rule of the state and the seat of governance and knowledge, and it continued until Turki bin Abdullah chose Riyadh as the new seat of government in 1824 AD. Diriyah remained the most famous city in the Arabian Peninsula during the 12th and 13th centuries (17th and 18th century AD), and in 2010 the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization declared the Al-Turaif neighborhood in the city of Diriyah a world heritage site.[9][10][11]

Diriyah Gate Development Authority[edit]

On July 20, 2017, the Saudi Council of Ministers, headed by King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, approved the establishment of the Diriyah Gate Development Authority, and the appointment of its board members, who are:
