Sergey Brilev[edit]

Sergey Borisovich Brilev (born July 24, 1972) - is the Russian journalist and award winning news anchor, Deputy Director of All-Russia State Television and Radio Broadcasting Company, PhD in history, and public figure.

An author and anchor of his own political TV program "Vesti v subbotu" (Saturday News) at the national channel Russia TV and 24/7 news channel called "Rossiya-24" ("Russia-24").

Co-founder and the President of The Bering-Bellingshausen Institute for the Americas ([1]IBBA: Montevideo, Uruguay - Moscow, Russia).

The member of the governing Board of the Council on Foreign and Defence Policy (SVOP-CFDP, Russia's oldest NGO), a life member of the Russian TV Academy and a full delegate ("Media Leader") of the World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland.

Sergey was born in Havana, Cuba. Due to his parents job his early life was spent between Uruguay, Ecuador and Russia (then - USSR). Fluently speaks english and spanish.

In 1990-1993 - correspondent-intern at Science and Education department of Komsomolskaya Pravda daily newspaper. Columnist at uruguayan newspapers "La Republica" and "El Observador Economico".

In 1993-1995 - special correspondent of an International department of "Moscow News" newspaper. Moscow based correspondent of argentinian "La Razon" newspaper. Author of special reports for "International panorama" at the national TV.

In 1995 - graduated from Moscow State Institute of International Relations MGIMO University, Faculty of an International journalism, Moscow, Russia.

Since 1995 - special correspondent, news anchor at Russia-1.[edit]

In 1995-1996 - special correspondent of the daily news program "Vesti" during First Chechen War

In 1996-2001 - chief of London, UK "Vesti" bureau   

September 11, 2011 - the first day as the news anchor. Due to the tragedy in USA instead of the one-hour regular program he was on air almost the whole day.  

In 2001-2003 - anchor of evening prime-time news "Vesti".

In 2003-2007 - anchor of Sunday review - "Vesti nedeli" ("Weekly news")

Since 2008 - author and anchor of his own political program "Vesti v subbotu s Sergeyem Brilyovym" ("Saturday news with Sergey Brilev")

At the same time: anchor of Russian edition of Frot Bayard (2002), anchor of "Vesti.Podrobnosti" ("Vesti.Details") (2005-2006), political show "Pyataya Studiya" ("The Fifth Studio") ( 2007-2008).

In 2001-2007 - co-anchor of live broadcasting of the "Direct Line with Vladimir Putin"

In 2004, 2008, 2012 and 2018 - official commentator of the live ceremony of an Inauguration of the President of Russian Federation.   

Since 2012 - participant of an annual live broadcast "Talk with Dmitry Medvedev"

Since 2014 - co-founder and the President of President of The Bering-Bellingshausen Institute for the Americas (IBBA: Montevideo, Uruguay - Moscow, Russia).

Since 2015 - author, producer and co-anchor of "Federation" - one-hour documentaries about Russian regions.  

Since 2016 - author, producer and co-anchor of "Free of visas" - one-hour documentaries about countries with no-visas regime with Russia.

On the regular basis moderates high-level plenary sessions at economic and political forums. One of the recents - in Vladivostok this September along with Vladimir Putin, Xi Jìnpíng, Shinzō Abe, Lee Nak-yeon and Khaltmaagiin Battulga. [2]

Sergey is also well-known because of his exclusive interviews with world political leaders. Such as: Russian Presidents Vladimir Putin and Dmitry Medvedev, US George W. Bush and Barack Obama, Chinese Chairman Xí Jìnpíng and Premier Li Keqiang, French Valéry Giscard d'Éstaing, Nicolas Sarkozy and Emmanuel Macron, Japanese Prime Minister Shinzō Abe, British Prime Ministers Sir John Major, Tony Blair, Gordon Brown, David Cameron, as well as Presidents, Prime Ministers, Foreign Ministers of Russia, China, USA, France, Japan, UK, Belarus, Ukraine, Ireland, Serbia, Singapore, Syria, South Korea, Cuba, Uruguay, Brazil, Argentina, Venezuela, Israel, Norway, Poland, Vietnam, Finland, etc. Along with that - dozens of interviews with world business leaders at different forums and sessions: from Davos to Saint-Petersburg.
