UNICEF Uganda is a non-governmental organization advocating for the protection of children's rights by ensuring that the most vulnerable and disadvantaged boys and girls realize their rights and have an equal opportunity to survive and thrive. Its work is guided by the International Convention on the Rights of a Child.UNICEF Uganda was incepted in 1960.[1][2][3][4][5]
Area of focus[edit]
UNICEF Uganda focuses on core programs including education, social protection, health, child protection, maternal, reproductive, child health, and adolescent health. It also concentrates on nutrition, HIV/AIDS, water, sanitation, and hygiene(WASH). It also focuses on cross-sectional themes including childhood development, adolescent development, social behavior change, and advocacy.[6][7][8][9]
National and International alignment[edit]
UNICEF Uganda aligns with the Sustainable Development Goals in line with the Government of Uganda's vision for 2040, Third Ugandan National Development Plan 2020-2025, and forms an integral part of the United Nations Sustainable Development Cooperation Forum for Uganda 2021-2025, and the Comprehensive Refugee Response Framework.[10][11][12][13]
