Tomohiro Hatta (born 1986) is a Japanese pianist gaining recognition on the international music scene. He is known for his virtuosity, brilliant technique, and sensitivity, which have attracted the attention of notable piano masters such as Billy Eidi and Caio Pagano.

Education

Born in 1986, Tomohiro Hatta began his musical studies at the age of five with M. Endo and continued at the age of ten with N. Miyazawa, one of Japan's most prominent piano teachers, who became his mentor. In September 2005, he moved to Paris to continue his musical training at the École Normale de Musique de Paris, the Conservatoire National de Région de Paris, and the Conservatoire Départemental de Gennevilliers, achieving excellent results. In 2016, he completed a master’s degree in Piano Performance at ESART, graduating at the top of his class.

International Career

Tomohiro Hatta has performed in several countries worldwide, including the United Kingdom, Germany, Italy, the Czech Republic, Russia, Slovenia, Panama, Morocco, India, and Turkey. He has played in prestigious venues such as the Salle Pleyel in Paris, Tribeca in New York, and the Rudolfinum Hall in Prague. He has also participated in numerous festivals, including Bon Anniversaire Monsieur Chopin (broadcast on France 3), the Carré d’As Jeunes Talents festival, the Chopin Festival in Paris (Bagatelle), Dias da Música in Portugal, the IMAGO Festival, the Delhi International Arts Festival, and Pafos 2017 – European Capital of Culture in Cyprus. At the beginning of 2018, he embarked on a tour of 18 concerts in 18 cities across China. He returned to China in August 2024 for a new concert series. In addition to his solo career, Tomohiro Hatta also performs with the Portuguese pianist Ricardo Vieira under the name Musicorba.

Competitions and Awards

Tomohiro Hatta has received awards in several international competitions, including the Rudolf Firkusny International Piano Competition in the Czech Republic, the Smetana Prize, and the International Piano Competition of Her Royal Highness Princess Lalla Meryem in Morocco, where he was honored with multiple special awards. He is also a laureate of the Maria Campina Piano Competition in Portugal, the Orchestra Sion International Piano Competition in Turkey, and the Alexander Scriabin Competition. In 2024, he again served as a juror for the PTNA Piano Competition for the online preliminaries in Tochigi and Tokyo. Throughout his career, he has recorded for channels such as France 3, RFI, RDP-Antena 2, and Slovenia’s National Radio.
