The production took place in China, with modifications to the show for the Japanese broadcast.[10] The first season started on October 5, 2016,[5] and ended on December 21, 2016.[citation needed] The anime has been licensed by Crunchyroll for its online release.[11] In China, the opening song is "Insistence" (执念), performed by Loki (刘畅).[12] Meanwhile, in Japan, the opening song is "Come to See You" (オープニングテーマ「アイニコイヨ」), performed by BRATS.[13] The ending song in both Japan and China is "My Dad Protects the Earth" (エンディングテーマ「私のパパが地球を守る 〜我爹守护地球〜」) by Lin Heye (林和夜).[14]

A second season of the show entitled To Be Heroine[15] was released on May 19, 2018.[16][17]

An animation project titled To Be Hero X has been announced by bilibili and Aniplex. The studio BeDream produces the animation, which is again directed by Li Haoling.[18] At Anime Expo 2023, Crunchyroll announced that they licensed the series outside of Asia.[19] The series is scheduled to air on Fuji TV in April 2025.[20][21]
