Third Rock Ventures is a healthcare venture capital firm founded in 2007.[1] Since its inception, the firm has invested in more than 65 biotechnology companies, which have collectively brought more than 20 products to market.[2]

Approach

Third Rock maintains an active discovery pipeline, where members of the firm identify and advance projects across a range of therapeutic areas, including oncology, cardiovascular disease, rare diseases and more.[2] In addition to the firm’s discovery projects, Third Rock invests in initial financing rounds for external companies.

Third Rock is highly engaged in its ventures, and the firm’s partners frequently serve as interim leaders in portfolio companies when launched. This approach allows the firm to guide the companies’ early operational and strategic decisions.[3]

Third Rock Ventures’ closed its sixth and most recent fund in 2022, raising $1.1 billion.[4] This brings the total funds raised by the firm to $3.8 billion.[2]
