The Witch (Korean: 마녀) is an ongoing South Korean television series starring Park Jin-young and Roh Jeong-eui. Directed by Kim Tae-gyun, it is based on the webtoon of the same name by Kang Full.[2] It premiered on Channel A on February 15, 2025, and airs every Saturday and Sunday at 21:15 (KST).[3]

The show is going to be available for streaming on TVING and Netflix in South Korea, U-Next in Japan, and on Viu and Viki in selected regions.

Synopsis

The woman called "The Witch" — if you approach her, you die. At first, it was curiosity and admiration, but Lee Dong-jin, as he embraces Park Mi-jeong's world, comes to feel compassion for her. As everyone who approaches her suffers tragic events, Mi-jeong, overwhelmed by guilt, runs away from the world. A man who threw away his life to break the law of death and a woman who, in truth, wanted to be remembered by someone. The story of two people who become each other's salvation at the end of their unyielding journey.[4]

The series is based on the webtoon The Witch by Kang Full. It is written by Jo Yoo-jin[9] and directed by Kim Tae-gyun.[10] On April 28, 2022, it was reported that Park Jin-young and Roh Jeong-eui were in discussion to play the series' leads.[2][5]

Principal photography began in August 2022[11] and wrapped up in March 2023.[12]

The Witch premiered on Channel A on February 15, 2025.[3][4]

Viewership

With a nationwide rating of 2.4%, The Witch recorded the highest ratings of a drama premiere in Channel A history.[13]
