The Manhattan Alien Abduction is a three-episode Netflix documentary miniseries about an alien abduction case from 1989.[1][2] It was released in the United States on October 30, 2024.[3]

Synopsis

[edit]

Linda Napolitano alleges that on November 30, 1989 she was abducted by aliens from her Manhattan apartment.[4] She claimed that aliens extracted her from her 12th-floor window "on a blue beam of light, lifting her onto a reddish-orange spacecraft that quickly sped off toward the Brooklyn Bridge."[1] More than twenty witnesses were reported to have claimed to have witnessed the event, as well as two bodyguards of an unnamed "world leader".[1]

The series covers the promotion of her case by Budd Hopkins in the 1990s and Napolitano's present-day relationship with his widow, who claimed to have debunked Napolitano's abduction case.[1][2][4]

Reception

[edit]

Napolitano sued Netflix in an attempt to block the documentary's release, as she claimed she was smeared as a "liar" by Hopkins' ex-wife,[1] and defamed and painted in an unflattering light by the series.[3]
