The L.U.V's (also referred to as the L-U-V's or L*U*V's) were an American rock band formed in Providence, Rhode Island in 1997.[1] Before settling on their current name in 1997, the band performed under the name the Ultraviolets.[citation needed] They gained a following in New England in the late 1990s with a glam and punk sound drawing influences from bands like Suede, the Cramps, the Misfits, the Sex Pistols, and the Rolling Stones.[citation needed] The band formed with Johnny Velour, Paul DeVarnais, Vinyl Ricci (play on the name Lionel Richie), and Billy Metropolis. The lineup of the L.U.V's stayed the mostly the same during their relatively short span.[citation needed]

Stay Pretty and breakup
[edit]In 1998 the band won the WBRU Rock Hunt.[2] With their win and the items they won, the L.U.V's entered Sound Station 7 with their new drummer, Eric Stardust, and created a new album called Stay Pretty.[3] The album was never released as the L.U.V's had broken up before the album could be released.[3]
