[edit]The Good Braider received starred reviews from School Library Journal[1] and Booklist,[2] as well as positive reviews from Bulletin of the Center for Children's Books[3] and Kirkus.[4] The American Immigration Council called the book "bold and brave."
The book has been discussed in academic journals, including Journal of Children's Literature,[5][6] NCTE's Talking Points,[7] Journal of Adolescent & Adult Literacy,[8] The ESSE Messenger,[9] and English Journal.[10]
Bank Street College of Education named The Good Braider one of the best children's books of 2013.[11]
