The First Frost (Chinese: 难哄) is an upcoming Chinese youth romance series starring Bai Jingting and Zhang Ruonan. The plot is adapted from Chinese novel of the same name by Zhu Yi, and will be release on Youku.[1] It tells the story of two high school classmates reunion when they accidentally rent the same house.[2]
Plot
[edit]Wen Yifan accidentally runs into Sang Yan at the bar. They were once high school classmates, and she rejected him. To avoid awkwardness, they pretend not to know each other.[3] Due to circumstances, they are forced to confront each other when they end up sharing the same roof. The nature of their relationship changes when Wen Yifan’s sleepwalking due to her past family trauma worsens, and she finds herself waking in Sang Yan’s room.[4]

Reception
[edit]The First Frost became one of the most anticipated series.[7] The first poster and the trailer were well received by the audience.[8] The series collected over 3M reservations with its first look in the upcoming Youku romantic C-drama list.[9]
Production
[edit]The First Frost is produced by Wajijiwa , Youku Information Technology (Beijing) Co. Ltd., and Hunan Galaxy Cool Entertainment Culture Media Co. Ltd.[10] The production house issued an official statement on their Weibo account that live adaptation of the novel "The First Frost" by Zhu Yi will be made.[11] They stated that the series is in the script polishing stage and they are working on the content. It has an Manhua adaption named 'Eternal Love'. On 24 March 2024, posters of main characters were released, and it was announce that the series would be broadcast on Youku.[12] On 27 June 2024, series first official trailer was released.[13] From February to August 2024, the shooting of the series was scheduled.[14]
