Same record?

[edit]

If the world record is also the current Olympic record, should they be collapsed into a single row instead of repeating the same information twice? An example would be Swimming at the 2008 Summer Olympics - Men's 4 x 100 metre medley relay. The first cell could simply say "World and<br/>Olympic Record". — Andrwsc (talk · contribs) 05:16, 1 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

The recent modifications to the template, result in all the Athletics at the 2008 Summer Olympics event pages displaying empty tags {{{world_ref}}} and {{{olympic_ref}}}. e.g. Athletics at the 2008 Summer Olympics - Men's 100 metres and Athletics at the 2008 Summer Olympics - Women's 100 metres. However we already have an article on World records in athletics, (with references), so maybe it's unneeded duplication to manually fill each field with a reference? Is there a way this could be automated, so that the correct world record reference could be added to each of the 40-50 articles? --Xagent86 (Talk | contribs) 11:49, 6 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]
I thought it was an unnecessary modification. But, while it's been discussed, I re-wrote the template so that it would not show "{{{world_ref}}}" and "{{{olympic_ref}}}" empty cells. I vote for the template to be what it was before. I agree with Xagent86, the reference column is unneeded. Saulopro (talk) 01:24, 7 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]
