Template-protected edit request on 19 January 2015

The template directs readers to the "Animated films task force", whereas the title of that entity is the "Animated films work group" --LukeSurl t c 14:06, 19 January 2015 (UTC)

Not done: it's not clear what changes you want to be made. Please mention the specific changes in a "change X to Y" format. I'm pretty sure I can guess what your X to Y is, but I want to be sure because if it is what I think it is, then I'd have to decline this request. "task force" is consistent and the link takes you to Wikipedia:WikiProject Animation/Animated films work group via a redirect that was created by Fortdj33 apparently for that reason. Such a redirect would seem to fall under WP:NOTBROKEN to me. — {{U|Technical 13}} (etc) 17:06, 19 January 2015 (UTC)
Change the template so it displays, when Animated=yes, "Animated films work group" rather than "Animated films task force" because this is the name of the actual page. It also makes the template display the same as Template:WikiProject Animation which uses the correct term. Currently talk pages such as Talk:Foodfight! which implement both templates give the impression there are two different groups - it looks like People's Front of Judea vs.Judean People's Front type situation. --LukeSurl t c 19:04, 19 January 2015 (UTC)
Required code in the /sandbox. I can't think of any reasons not to do this. — Martin (MSGJ · talk) 19:27, 19 January 2015 (UTC)
The difference between "task force" and "work group", is because the article falls under the scope of more than one WikiProject. For example, if I pick a random article from the "Indian cinema task force", such as Talk:Jeevitham (1984 film), it shows up under the {{WikiProject India}} banner as part of the "Indian cinema workgroup". Similarly, a random article from the "Comic book films task force", such as Talk:The Fantastic Four (2015 film), shows up under the {{WikiProject Comics}} banner as part of the "Comic book films work group". I understand the good faith effort on the part of LukeSurl, but this is simply not a problem that needs to be fixed. Fortdj33 (talk) 21:11, 19 January 2015 (UTC)
It seems that Indian cinema and Comic book films are actually task forces of WP:FILM whereas animated films is a work group of WP:ANIMATION. Would it not make sense to call them by their actual names? (And those other two banners could be adjusted to reflect that.) — Martin (MSGJ · talk) 23:23, 19 January 2015 (UTC)
I would say that they already are being called by their proper names, within the context of their parent projects. All of them are referred to as "task forces" by {{WikiProject Film}}, and all of them are referred to as "work groups" by their respective secondary projects. Just because the Animated films task force started as a work group of WP:ANIMATION, is no reason to make all the other joint task forces conform to it. As Technical 13 points out, if it's WP:NOTBROKEN, why fix it? Fortdj33 (talk) 01:49, 20 January 2015 (UTC)

As a creator of this work group, I would have no problem with that, but not likely right now since this a work group WP:ANIMATION. JJ98 (Talk) 09:37, 20 February 2015 (UTC)

Future-class

Can this template be edited to enable assessing articles as being Future-class? I'm not sure how exactly it works but it'd be useful for this one, to tag upcoming films. See Template:WikiProject Albums & Category:Future-Class_Album_articles. — Jeraphine Gryphon (talk) 06:58, 8 June 2015 (UTC)

Yes it could, but you would need to discuss this kind of change with the WikiProject first. Regards — Martin (MSGJ · talk) 09:19, 8 June 2015 (UTC)
Hi, Jeraphine. We used to have Future-Class but removed it because we found the other classes (Stub, Start, C) sufficient. My approach has been that an article cannot be B-class until the film has been released, meaning both reviews and box office content. If you'd like to request bringing it back, you can start a discussion at WT:FILM. For what it's worth, Category:Upcoming films can be used to identify articles about upcoming films, which is more direct than going through talk pages. Hey thanks. If it's already been done and undone then I'm not gonna push it. I was just wondering. — Jeraphine Gryphon (talk) 13:26, 8 June 2015 (UTC)
No problem! :) Erik II (talk | contrib) (ping me) 14:32, 8 June 2015 (UTC)

Task force counting error

For some reason, the Mexican task force articles aren't counted in Category:WikiProject Film task force usage. See Talk:¡Viva México! (El grito de Dolores) which puts it in Category:Film articles with no associated task forces. -- Ricky81682 (talk) 05:23, 18 September 2015 (UTC)

This edit has fixed it. --Redrose64 (talk) 09:29, 18 September 2015 (UTC)

Casting consensus discussion

Listen up, everyone. Deathawk started a discussion on casting sections in movies on the Wikifilm talk page like a week ago and it has been mostly forgotten. Everyone on it might want to take a look and continue with it's discussion so we can set up a consensus about it. The discussion is located here. So go there so we can reach an consensus.
