Implementing "nested" option

[edit]

{{editprotected}} (btw, why is this template protected?)

Please replace the very first line:

{| class="messagebox {{#ifeq:{{{small|}}}|yes|small|standard}}-talk"

with the nesting code:

{| class="{{#ifeq:{{lc:{{{nested|}}}}}|yes|collapsible collapsed messagebox nested-talk|{{#ifeq:{{lc:{{{small|}}}}}|yes|messagebox small-talk|messagebox standard-talk}}}}"
|-
{{#ifeq:{{lc:{{{nested|}}}}}|yes|
! colspan="2" style="text-align: center" {{!}} [[Wikipedia:WikiProject Bridges|WikiProject Bridges]]{{#if:{{{class|}}} |      (Rated {{ucfirst:{{{class}}}}}-Class)|}}
}}

Please note the ampersands and copy from this regular page, not the code. Thanks! -- SatyrTN (talk | contribs) 17:13, 25 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Done. Also, the template is protected because there are over 600 transclusions of it. Cheers. --MZMcBride 19:06, 25 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

New version of template

[edit]

{{editprotected}} Could the Template:WikiProject Bridges article/sandbox version be copied over to Template:WikiProject Bridges article. Thanks. -- WOSlinker (talk) 19:20, 15 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]

 Done and also moved to a better name. — Martin (MSGJ · talk) 19:46, 15 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]
[edit]

{{editprotected}} Please unlink Bridges - it's a dab page. Thanks. 92.4.41.73 (talk) 20:46, 10 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]

I've changed it to link to bridge. Hope that's okay with you. — Martin (MSGJ · talk) 22:20, 10 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Future -Class needed

[edit]

Detroit River International Crossing is a prime example of an article that should be assessed as Future-Class: a proposed bridge that hasn't been built yet. Too many details over the near-term will be in flux until the bridge is actually approved, designed and built. Anyway, that's why I assessed that article this way, but the banner doesn't support that classification. Imzadi 1979  18:38, 16 June 2012 (UTC)[reply]

In the absence of a |QUALITY_SCALE= parameter you get the default "standard" scale (see Template:WPBannerMeta#Assessment). To allow Future-class, you need to create the appropriate subpage Template:WikiProject Bridges/class. If the only extra class that is needed is Future, something like this should do it:
{{class mask<noinclude>/templatepage</noinclude>|{{{class|}}}
 |topic=Bridge
 |future=yes
}}
You then need to set |QUALITY_SCALE=subpage inside the {{WPBannerMeta}} of Template:WikiProject Bridges. --Redrose64 (talk) 19:13, 16 June 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Ok, the subpage is set, so we just need the parameter added to the main template. Imzadi 1979  20:30, 16 June 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Please add

|QUALITY_SCALE=subpage

to the template coding to enable Future-Class. Imzadi 1979  20:30, 16 June 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Done Sorry it took so long! I skipped about 45 mins worth of watchlist by mistake. --Redrose64 (talk) 11:06, 17 June 2012 (UTC)[reply]
No worries and thanks. Imzadi 1979  14:39, 17 June 2012 (UTC)[reply]
[edit]

Please add a standard link to the portal, by adding the following lines

|PORTAL = Bridges
|PORTAL_IMG = IP tourismus.png

Thanks --ELEKHHT 06:10, 31 December 2012 (UTC)[reply]

[edit]

That picture of the stone bridge could be changed to File:P bridge.svg, as I think those kind of icons make the banners look much nicer, plus the width of the photograph is a little much and pushes the gradings wider.

Also, why is this template fully protected? Rcsprinter123 (discourse) @ 22:02, 12 October 2014 (UTC)[reply]

This template is not fully protected, it is template-editor protected, it is used on >5000 pages. Please engage the project talk Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Bridges for a short period to propose the logo change for this project, after consensus (or at least no-objection) reactivate the edit request here. — xaosflux Talk 22:19, 12 October 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Message from ZACHO per WikiProject Bridges Template -- @Admin:, In accordance with the recent changes to the title,

the parameter

 banner=bridge(s)

should be replaced with banner= bridge(s) and tunnel(s) and an additional image of a tunnel should be provided. I would do it myself, though there is a extended confirmed protection , and I'm only Auto-confirmed. I may bring this up @ protection requests (via Twinkle). Thank you. Sincerely, User: Zanygenius(talk page) 20:01, 21 January 2018 (UTC)[reply]

 Not done |banner= does not exist. — JJMC89(T·C) 21:20, 21 January 2018 (UTC)[reply]
@JJMC89: Oops, I meant |BANNER_NAME= in this Wikipedian banner page.
Sincerely, User: Zanygenius(talk page) 22:51, 21 January 2018 (UTC)[reply]
@Zanygenius: No, you mean |MAIN_ARTICLE=, see this edit. The |BANNER_NAME= parameter must match the actual name of the template.
Anyway, I have moved the templates and made some edits consequent on that; I have done nothing about the category names as yet. Nor have I altered the image, since (i) you didn't suggest one; and (ii) there can be only one image.
What you can do - whilst I am out at work - is to check it through, and make any amendments that you think might be necessary, at Template:WikiProject Bridges and Tunnels/sandbox. --Redrose64 🌹 (talk) 12:33, 23 January 2018 (UTC)[reply]
I've updated the categories. If a new image is wanted, please specify one. — JJMC89(T·C) 03:07, 24 January 2018 (UTC)[reply]
@JJMC89: Why have you blanked out the |substcheck= parameter? It's one of the standard parameters, and the documentation for Template:WPBannerMeta shows it as always being filled in. --Redrose64 🌹 (talk) 14:33, 24 January 2018 (UTC)[reply]
It serves to show {{WPBannerMeta/substwarning}} when the template is subst. That cannot happen when Module:Unsubst is used. — JJMC89(T·C) 15:14, 24 January 2018 (UTC)[reply]
So where in Template:WPBannerMeta is it advised to use Module:Unsubst? --Redrose64 🌹 (talk) 17:07, 24 January 2018 (UTC)[reply]
Nowhere, but what does that have to do with anything? It is more user friendly — a user attempting to subst ends up with the correct result if the module is used instead of having to fix it when {{substcheck}} is used. — JJMC89(T·C) 02:40, 25 January 2018 (UTC)[reply]

At Template:WikiProject Bridges and Tunnels/class can you change |topic=Bridge to |topic=Bridges and Tunnel. As all the categories have been moved from Bridge to Bridges and Tunnel since 2018. ___CAPTAIN MEDUSAtalk (We are the champions, my friends) 11:20, 28 September 2019 (UTC)[reply]

 Done |topic=Bridge and Tunnel, singular Bridge. Cabayi (talk) 11:34, 28 September 2019 (UTC)[reply]
