As a comment on usage, in designing this I've tried to avoid a "don't template the regular" problems. In general, with experienced good faith editors, it's best to bring up editing concerns in a personal, friendly way rather than to use a form warning. However, the purpose of this template is not to admonish them on their editing, but rather to let them know that they are editing an article under probation. There is no implication that they did anything wrong and, in fact, it is best not to use this template as an accusation. It ought to be applied evenly to everyone -- even people who probably know already about probation and/or who are unlikely to make a disruptive edit. That way there is no concern about bias or selective enforcement, and should a disruption later occur, not delay or question about whether a person is on notice. Superseded?

[edit]

This seems like a historical notice that's been superseded by the newer methods of altering edits to general sanctions. Can we mark it as such and point people to a better place to go? {{u|Sdkb}}talk 10:32, 7 May 2020 (UTC)[reply]
