Purpose

[edit]

What is the point of this template when we have a perfectly good {{no license}} template that starts the clock towards deletion. This just throws an extra step into the equation. howcheng {chat} 21:56, 1 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

People sometimes specify the license information for images they upload in a form other than a standard copyright tag. User:OrphanBot, as part of its automated image tagging, identifies images that have no copyright tag and adds this template, so that people at Wikipedia:Untagged images can check the images and apply the appropriate tag. This used to be done from lists generated by the toolserver, but with the toolserver not working right now, this is the best alternative. --Carnildo 22:31, 1 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Hmmm... I guess perhaps the other admins clearing out CAT:NL don't check the description before deletion? I always do, so this to me seems like just an extra step. howcheng {chat} 16:25, 2 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Do the images need to go into this category? After all, CAT:NR and CAT:NL only put them into the dated categories. If there are no objections, I'll remove it from the template. howcheng {chat} 16:05, 21 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

As there were no objections, I've created Category:All images with no copyright tag which will hold all the images so that the main category page doesn't get so cluttered. howcheng {chat} 20:52, 6 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Still in use?

[edit]

Is this template still being used? I see no transclusions anywhere. Is OrphanBot still tagging images? howcheng {chat} 06:27, 23 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]

ImageTaggingBot is the one doing the tagging, and it's offline while I try to figure out some particularly screwy bugs in the tagging logic. --Carnildo (talk) 09:36, 23 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]
