IP Thank You!This user believes that vandal reverting IP addresses should be sincerely and deeply thanked for their efforts !

I created this template because I'm serious about the attached Userbox. I've been doing a lot of thanking lately and "manually", so this template will help me quite a bit. If you also feel that vandal-reverting IP editors should be shown gratitude for their efforts, then feel free to save time with this template. As always, you are welcome to make improvements and discuss them here on this Talk page if you like. Thank you very much! – Painius  02:52, 27 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Change as of 21/5/15

[edit]

Hi Paine, I amended the template to remove the new-years fireworks and to revert the imperative language you added in 2013; Speaking as someone who prefers to edit from an IP, I feel the phrasing "Please create an account" could potentially drive off some of the people you're trying to welcome! Seeing as how I'm not actually using this template (and you are), if you disagree and want to revert it I won't be upset! 97.90.150.229 (talk) 23:43, 21 May 2015 (UTC)[reply]

To editor 97.90.150.229: – I'm not real certain that notifications will let you know about this response, but I just saw it and wanted to let you know that I'm okay with your changes. IIRC, I switched to the animated file image for New Years, and I seem to have forgotten to change it back. As for the assertiveness of the previous urge to create an account, you may very well be correct, so it's present state is definitely okay with me. Edit request on 13 December 2022

[edit]

I would like to request as a future edit, that "in our battle against vandalism" be converted into a switch, allowing registered editors to employ this template for other purposes, such as thanking an IP editor for general improvements to an article, with the focus on inviting the IP editor to create an account. I mean, does this template have to be limited to only anti-vandalism efforts? — CJDOS, Sheridan, OR (talk) 05:58, 13 December 2022 (UTC)[reply]
