There have been recent important updates in the systematics of owlflies that should be incorporated into the Wikipedia pages. Major works by Jones (2019)[1] and Machado et al (2018)[2] should be incorporated. Either two competing classifications should be presented, or the more recent, that of Jones (2019) should be used. If the latter is used, then the subfamily classification should be expanded to include the new subfamilies in Jones (2019). So the final subfamily classification for Ascalaphidae would be:

Albardiinae van der Weele, 1909
Ululodinae van der Weele, 1909
Haplogleniinae Newman, 1853
Melambrotinae Tjeder, 1992
Ascalaphinae Lefèbvre, 1842
