Brethren Reformed Church
[edit]There is no article about the Brethren Reformed Church and the article that existed was deleted (Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Brethren Reformed Church). This indicates, that the Brethren Reformed Church is not a relevant branch of the Schwarzenau Brethren. Therefore there is no need to have this church in the Template:Schwarzenau Brethren. Including it seems rather to be a form of propagating this particular church --Dan Holsinger (talk) 08:23, 5 October 2016 (UTC)
- @Dan Holsinger: I definitely have no interest in promoting this group. There are just so few Brethren denominations that I don't want to leave out any one of them. I have refactored the redirect and put the relevant info in a new article. —Justin (koavf)❤T☮C☺M☯ 13:59, 5 October 2016 (UTC)
- I doubt very much that they are a relevant Schwarzenau Brethren group! Even though some people seem to promote them through the internet, there is not a lot of information about them around. Are they really Schwarzenau Brethren or just a small new Protestant group of people from different backgrounds? You somehow smuggled them into the Fellowship of Grace Brethren Churches article, because the article about them was deleted and a newly created redirect was speedy deleted. I ask you: What is your relation to them? Do you or did you ever attend this church? Why does such a young church, most probably with only a few families from different backgrounds, need to be mentioned so prominently as Schwarzenau Brethren? There are reasons why the article about them was deleted. I think the newly created redirect should also be deleted! I think there are good reasons to have articles about small Schwarzenau Brethren churches, who are clearly Schwarzenau Brethren and who are well established for many decades like the Old Order German Baptist Brethren or the Old Brethren German Baptist but why to have an article of such a new, most probably very small church of unclear background? And why having them in the template? --Dan Holsinger (talk) 14:26, 5 October 2016 (UTC)
- @Dan Holsinger: I think your questions are legitimate. I have absolutely no association with them and for what it's worth, I would not share their distinctive beliefs. I'm Church of the Brethren and Quaker. Do you think that the New Conference split should have its own article as well? The redirect was never actually deleted--the speedy deletion was contested. If you feel like it should be deleted, you are absolutely free to suggest it at WP:RFD and I will help you to post the discussion if that process seems at all confusing. My only interest as it were is to simply give an overview of all of the Brethren-related groups. And when it comes to the Grace/Reformed-style Brethren, I do not have much personal truck with them but I feel like they are worth discussing (just like evangelical Quakers who are really only marginally Quaker). —Justin (koavf)❤T☮C☺M☯ 03:00, 6 October 2016 (UTC)
