New page

[edit]

I created this page on account of my realization that IP users can be very good Wikipedians - before, I had perceived them as mostly vandals or poor users who don't understand the culture here. While some people may have reasons for remaining IP users, I feel it's a good idea to encourage them to register. Suggestions are welcome. - Chardish 01:28, 2 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Congratulations on coming to said realization after a mere three years here – many otherwise good contributors have yet to do so – Gurch (talk) 04:50, 2 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

[edit]

Not trying to WP:OWN this page, but the point is supposed to be that we post this on IP users' pages who are contributing already - I thought saying "I want you for Wikipedia" implied that the user wasn't already helping. - Chardish (talk) 02:43, 11 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Should be more informal

[edit]

Sigs are now automatically included in the template. I think it should be a bit more informal, however. There's no point making it mirror the text of Template:Welcome because that ain't a great template--Phoenix-wiki talk · contribs 22:55, 12 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Sorry

[edit]

Ooops. I was at the wrong page. I had no intention to change the template! I quickly self-reverted. --David Tornheim (talk) 02:32, 21 April 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Signature

[edit]

Should we change/remove the last sentence in light of wp:REPLYTOOL? May just be leading people to double-sign. small jars tc 23:36, 16 February 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Just went ahead and did this after seeing this was already discussed at template:welcome. small jars tc 00:19, 17 February 2023 (UTC)[reply]
